Do not use outdoors.
Do not let power cord hang over edge of table or counter or touch hot
surfaces.
10 Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated
oven.
11 When blending hot liquids, remove center piece of two-piece cover.
12 Use extreme caution when moving your blender when it contains hot
food, water, or other hot liquids.
13 Keep hands and utensils out of the container while blending to reduce
the risk of severe injury to persons or damage to your blender. You can
use a scraper, but only when your blender is not running.
14 Blades are sharp. Handle carefully.
15 To reduce the risk of injury, never place cutter assembly blades on the
blender base unless the pitcher is correctly attached.
16 Always operate your blender with the cover (lid) in place.
17 Do not use your blender for other than its intended use.
18 To disconnect, turn control dial to OFF, then unplug the power cord
from power outlet.
19 FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
Plug your blender into an AC power outlet (ordinary household current). Do
not use any other power outlet.
DO NOT OPERATE YOUR BLENDER IF THE POWER CORD SHOWS ANY
DAMAGE, OR IF YOUR BLENDER WORKS INTERMITTENTLY OR STOPS
WORKING ENTIRELY.
A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risk of becoming
entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. Longer, detachable power-supply
cords or extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in
their use. If a longer, detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used,
The marked electrical rating of the cord set or extension cord should be at
least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance.
The cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top
or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over
unintentionally.

Insignia NS-BLSS02 Blender
Polarized plug
Your blender has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To
reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized
outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the
plug and try again. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not
attempt to modify the plug in any way.
Power cord safety tips
Never pull or yank on the power cord or your blender.
To insert the plug, grasp it firmly and guide it into the outlet.
To disconnect your blender, grasp the plug and remove it from the outlet.
Before each use, inspect the power cord for cuts or abrasion marks. If any
are found, this indicates that your blender should be serviced and the
power cord replaced.
Never wrap the power cord tightly around your blender. This could place
undo stress on the cord where it enters your blender and cause the cord
to fray and break.

Assembling your blender
The blades are sharp. Handle with care.
Always unplug your blender before assembling, disassembling, cleaning,
or storing your blender
Keep your blender out of the reach of children, even when not in use and
being stored.
Do not hold the motor housing under running water or immerse in water
or any other liquid.
Your blender is constructed to blend or process normal household
quantities.
Before using
1
Carefully unpack your blender and remove any labels or packaging
materials. The clear inner portion of the two-piece lid is located in the
formed packaging materials. Do not discard any blender parts.
Warning
Blades are sharp. Handle with care.
2
3
Wash the glass pitcher, blade assembly, and two-piece lid in warm,
soapy water. Rinse well and dry thoroughly.
Wipe the exterior surfaces of the base with a soft, moist cloth to
remove dust particles collected during packing and handling. NEVER
IMMERSE THE BLENDER BASE (MOTOR HOUSING), POWER CORD, OR
PLUG IN WATER OR ANY OTHER LIQUID. Do not use harsh chemicals or
abrasive cleaners on any part of your blender.
Assembling
To assemble your blender:
1
Place the blender base on a level, dry surface such as a counter top or
table. Be sure that the speed control dial is in the OFF position and the
power cord is unplugged.
6

Insignia NS-BLSS02 Blender
2
Place a sealing gasket on the blade assembly, making sure all edges
have been pressed down.
3
Place a sealing gasket in the pitcher collar, then position the blade
assembly into the gasket.
7

Insignia NS-BLSS02 Blender
4
Insert the threaded end of the glass pitcher into the pitcher collar, then
turn the pitcher collar clockwise to tighten.
5
Position the pitcher on the blender base by aligning two of the dots on
the pitcher collar with the dots on the blender base. The pitcher can be
positioned with the handle direction in four different ways.
Note
If the glass pitcher is not correctly placed on the blender base,
the blender motor will not operate.
8

Insignia NS-BLSS02 Blender
Using your blender
During the first few minutes of initial use, you may notice smoke or a slight
odor. This is normal and should quickly disappear. It will not recur after your
blender has been used a few more times.
Tips
If ingredients stick to the sides of the glass pitcher during blending, turn
the control dial to the OFF position and unplug the power cord from the
power outlet. Make sure that the blades have stopped turning. Remove
the lid, and with a plastic or silicone spatula, scrape the contents from the
sides of the glass pitcher. Replace the lid before you continuing blending.
Do not overload the glass pitcher. Your blender is intended to process
regular household quantities.
For better and more even blending, cut vegetables into wedges or strips.
Cut other food into 1-inch cubes.
Do not place anything other than liquids or food inside the glass pitcher
when operating.
Your blender is not meant to knead dough or mash potatoes.
Never place hot or boiling ingredients into the glass pitcher. If blending
warm ingredients, do not fill the glass pitcher with more than two cups of
ingredients.
Follow recipe directions. But as a rule of thumb, add liquid ingredients
into the glass pitcher before adding solid ingredients.
Use intermittent pulses of about 10 seconds to blend heavy ingredients
and mixtures.
Do not run your blender for more than one minute without turning it off
and letting the ingredients settle slightly. This helps prevent
over-blending.
The blender motor will not operate without the glass pitcher positioned
correctly on top of the blender base.
Do not remove the rubberized pour-through lid while operating. To add
liquid ingredients while blending, remove the two-ounce measuring cup
from the lid and pour ingredients through the opening. Do not put a
utensil or any other object through the opening in the lid.
Never store foods or liquid in the pitcher.
To reduce wear on the blade assembly and motor, add solid foods in
½ cup increments.
If a recipe requires different speeds for blending, blend one portion at a
time.
When crushing ice, start with four to six ice cubes, then add one to two
cubes at a time. We recommend that you use only large, solid ice cubes
from the freezer. The ice cubes also should not be wet.

Insignia NS-BLSS02 Blender
To use your blender:
1
Add food or liquid into the glass pitcher, but do not overload. Your
blender is meant to process or blend regular, small quantities of food.
2
Press the rubberized pour-through lid firmly into place, then align the
two tabs of the two-ounce measuring cup with the two slots on the
lid. Turn clockwise to secure in place.
Cautions
• Never operate your blender without the lid placed on
the glass pitcher.
• When blending hot liquids, remove the two-ounce
measuring cup on the lid and pour through the hole in
the lid.
3
4
Plug the power cord into a household power outlet.
Turn the control dial to the speed you want. You can select LOW,
HIGH, or BLEND. To stop the blending action, turn the control dial to
the OFF position.
5
When you are finished, turn the control dial to the OFF position and
unplug the power cord. Make sure that the motor has stopped
running and the blades have stopped turning before you move your
blender, remove the glass pitcher, or pour or serve the blended
contents.
6
Clean your blender. See “Cleaning your blender” on page 11.
Using the PULSE feature
For recipes and ingredients that require short bursts of power, use the PULSE
feature.
To use the PULSE feature:
1
Follow the steps under “Using your blender” on page 9.
2
Turn and hold the control dial counter-clockwise to the PULSE
setting for a few seconds.
3
4
Release the dial. Your blender turns off, and the contents of the glass
pitcher settle back into the path of the cutting blade for even
blending.
Repeat Steps 2 and 3 until you get the blending results you want.
Using the BLEND feature
Your blender control dial includes a setting called BLEND. This setting is the
perfect, pre-programmed selection for blending salsa or recipes that call for
multiple ingredients to be evenly blended.
10

Insignia NS-BLSS02 Blender
To use the BLEND feature:
1
Follow the steps under “Using your blender” on page 9.
2
Turn the control dial to the BLEND position. Your blender blends the
ingredients on low speed for about two to three seconds, then pauses
to let ingredients settle back into the path of the cutting blade. This
process continues until you turn the control dial to a different setting
or to the OFF position.
Cleaning your blender
Warning
Be careful when you disassemble your blender. The blades are
sharp and could cause injury.
To clean your blender:
1
Make sure that the control dial is in the OFF position and the power
cord is unplugged from the power outlet.
2
Make sure that the motor has stopped running and the blades have
stopped turning.
3
4
Use the pitcher handle to lift the glass pitcher off of the blender base.
Remove the pitcher collar by rotating it counterclockwise.
11

Insignia NS-BLSS02 Blender
5
Lift the glass pitcher out of the pitcher collar, then lift the blade
assembly out of the pitcher collar.
6
Remove the sealing gaskets from the blade assembly and pitcher
collar.
7
8
Wash the glass pitcher, blade assembly, sealing gasket, and two-piece
lid in warm, soapy water. Rinse well and dry thoroughly.
Wipe the exterior surfaces of the base with a soft, moist cloth. NEVER
IMMERSE THE BLENDER BASE (MOTOR HOUSING), POWER CORD, OR
PLUG IN WATER OR ANY OTHER LIQUID. Do not use harsh chemicals or
abrasive cleaners on any part of your blender.
9
Re-assemble your blender. See “Assembling your blender” on page 6.

Insignia NS-BLSS02 Blender
Dishwasher Cleaning
We recommend that you clean your blender by hand. The heat and water
pressure in automatic dishwashers can damage or warp some of the blender
parts. If necessary, you can clean the glass pitcher in a dishwasher if you
remove the pitcher collar, gasket, lid, and blade assembly. To prevent
damage, position the pitcher in the dishwasher rack so it will not hit other
items during cleaning.
Storing your blender
Make sure that all parts of your blender are clean and dry before storing.
Never store it while it is wet.
Store your blender with the lid slightly open to avoid trapping odors or
stagnant water in the pitcher.
Store your blender in its box or in a clean, dry place.
Store your blender in a location out of the reach of children.
Never wrap the power cord tightly around the appliance. Use the cord
storage compartment in the back of your blender (see “Power cord
storage feature” on page 5) or keep it loosely coiled.
Troubleshooting
Motor reset feature
Your blender includes a manual reset function in case the blade seizes up and
the motor overheats and stops.
To reset:
1

4
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet and make sure that the
blades have stopped moving.
Turn the control dial to the OFF position, then let the motor cool for at
least 30 minutes.
While waiting, make sure no ice or other contents are lodged between
the blades. Using caution, make sure that the blade turns freely.
After 30 minutes, plug the power cord into the wall outlet and
continue using your blender.
